Experience

I am a current master's student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. There, I also completed my bachelor's in English & Communications with a minor in Art History. As part of the Texts, Technologies, and Literature program at UMBC, many of my studies revolve around the way different types of texts (including digital media) interact to better link literature with communications as fields of study. Ultimately, my thesis looks into the way students learn and study. I hope to identify certain tools that are successful at encouraging average students to consider higher education. It seems to me that it all comes down to motivation, and I think the presence of compassionate, hard-working teachers can make a huge difference in a student's future. Such educators can help focus a student's creative abilities into a productive skill, turning his or her strengths into tools to conquer his or her weaknesses.Considering my majors, I'm most comfortable tutoring English topics such as essay writing, general composition, vocabulary, grammar, and/or reading comprehension. I'm also ready to help with Art History, particularly Modernism and non-Western art. I'm good at making large tasks approachable by using a step-by-step method.Outside of teaching, I am a writer of short fiction and memoir, an editor, a copyeditor, a curator, as well as an art critic. Of course, I also enjoy various hobbies such as attending museums, making jewelry or other forms of art, and watching educational or international films. Finally, I have a Chihuahua named Skeeter, and I really like pizza.
