I have been tutoring for eight years now and love every second of it. I have seen many students at the brink of disaster in their grades, turn around and begin loving the subjects they study (not to mention gain a letter grade or two). My heart is for teaching and tutoring. So much so that I have spent all of my working life tutoring and teaching; I tutor in person, over the phone, online, and I substitute teach in Baltimore.

I am very passionate about your success and I often devote two hours or more a session without batting an eyelash. I find that often times short sessions only leave students with more questions to slog through on their own. Hence, I work as hard as I can as thoroughly as I can to identify and explain the core concept or notational inconsistency that is at the root of the misunderstanding. Tutoring is a very varied and individualized business and for each and every client an entirely new approach is required.

I am certainly proud to say I have an almost perfect memory of every algebra technique taught in the high school math sequence and a great repository of calculus techniques, but it profits me very little if I can't communicate the concept to you. This requires my focus to be about the fine art of COMMUNICATING complex mathematics. Based upon my past successes, I have begun to exceed at this aspect of tutoring.

#### Hobbies

Ultimately, I hope to practice medicine or biomedical research. A Masters Degree in mathematics will help me accomplish this goal. Medicine requires the amalgamation of many different disciplines to detect, prevent, treat, or cure disease. Mathematics is foundational to every science and every technology, thus the study of pure mathematics (or applied) will be the key for me in my quest to unlock many new undiscovered or untouched doors in the practice of medicine.I envision using the mathematics techniques I have learned to attack the problem of cancer and help advance cancer research. Currently, many scientists trained in biochemistry, genetics, or related fields are making tremendous strides in the fight against cancer. But, currently there is a need for mathematicians to tackle the mathematical challenges of oncogene transcription and protein folding. Proper mathematical modeling of this phenomenon would present researchers with astounding new cancer drug possibilities.

The Master’s degree I am studying for at Towson University is focused upon laying the ground work necessary to successfully approach the aforementioned area of research. I have been active in the folding@home project and my involvement has led me to research several applications, including ultrafine modeling of oncoprotein interactions and inhibition of the apoptotic pathways in cells. I believe current biochemistry related research has a tremendous amount to gain from improved mathematical models of oncoprotein folding.
